Heavy Equipment Operator I

About the role

Safety-driven operator with hands-on experience running mobile cranes, magnet cranes, and shears to process and move scrap materials efficiently. You will support daily yard operations by loading and unloading trucks and railcars, preparing scrap to spec, and maintaining equipment through inspections and preventive maintenance. Known for strong teamwork, problem-solving, and a commitment to Gerdau’s safety, environmental, and core values.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile cranes, magnet cranes, and shears to process and move scrap materials
• Load and unload trucks and railcars
• Prepare scrap materials to specification
• Maintain equipment through inspections and preventive maintenance
• Support yard logistics and material handling
• Ensure safety and environmental compliance
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to continuous improvement

Requirements

• High School Education/GED preferred
• Desire to enhance skills and knowledge to develop as a Gerdau employee
