Heavy Equipment Operator

Rogers Group, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, TN, is a privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company operating in 13 states with over 3,500 employees. Established in 1908, RGI is the largest privately held aggregate producer in the United States. This position is for our Virginia SMA operations in Roanoke, VA.

About the role

The successful candidate will have experience operating various pieces of heavy equipment – excavator, dozer, track hoe, loader, haul truck, skid steer, and others. This individual will also be required to work on the ground and in the plant, with a strong commitment to safety excellence.

Responsibilities

• Willing and able to work on the ground and in the plant as needed.
• Able and willing to assist with fixed plant maintenance.
• Operate heavy equipment with precision and excellence in a variety of terrains and conditions.
• Perform various production duties.
• Complete required daily inspections, light maintenance, greasing, and fueling of heavy equipment.
• May be called upon at the discretion of management to perform any other duties assigned and/or assist other areas as necessary.

Requirements

• Dedication to safe work practices.
• At least two years of proficient experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
• Experience operating various pieces of heavy equipment – excavator, dozer, track hoe, loader, haul truck, skid steer, and others.
• Willing to work overtime and extended hours as needed.
• Able to work outside in all types of weather and tolerate exposure to loud noises.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen.
• Able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.

Pay

Wages starting at $18.00/hr. for entry-level candidates. Higher pay for skilled operators with quarry and mining experience. Overtime available.
