Responsibilities
- Operate and transport a variety of heavy motorized equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating and stockpiling.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill the equipment as necessary.
- Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
- Operate construction or power equipment, such as crawler dozer, broom, backhoe, man-lift, dump truck, road grader, front-end loader, excavators, skid steers, etc.
- Perform maintenance and maintain maintenance and servicing records for all equipment, vehicles and tools.
- Operate in a safe and responsible manner.
- Comply with site policies and safety procedures.
- Follow safety and security procedures and determine appropriate action. Report potentially unsafe conditions and use materials and equipment properly.
- Operate heavy equipment such as front end loaders, dozers and graders in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
- Communicate with individuals on jobsite to ensure appropriate task is performed.
- Ensure all equipment is safely and securely stored.
- Follow signal directions while safely operating equipment.
- Ensure no digging is done unless all safety precautions have been taken to ensure lines are not broken.
Qualifications
- Self-motivated individual with strong desire to succeed.
- Pass a drug/alcohol screen.
- 5+ years experience in heavy construction.
- Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with minimal supervision.
- Able to read, understand, and comply with safety requirements and procedures at all times.
- Ability to set storm water structures and piping including RCP and culverts of various types.
- Drug & alcohol-free workplace.
- Verifiable references.
- Willingness to learn, be trained and obtain various certifications.
- Proven ability to operate heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
- Knowledge of basic equipment inspection and maintenance including visual deficiencies, tire pressure, checking all fluid levels.
- Be available to work overtime as required.
- Regular attendance and dependability is a must.
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequent standing/walking.
- Requires the ability to perform field work involving exertion of a moderate amount of physical effort to twist, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, lift, climb ladders, climb stairs and walk on uneven ground in the performance of duties.
- Work outdoors in all types of weather.
- Extensive physical effort.
- Requires stair climbing; heavy lifting, handling, pushing or moving objects up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Constant standing/walking.
- Requires the ability to perform field work involving exertion of a moderate amount of physical effort to twist, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, lift, climb ladders, climb stairs and walk on uneven ground in the performance of duties.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

Pay and Schedule
The position is a full-time hourly position. Pay is commensurate with experience.
