About the role
Maryland Division/HTI, a division of the H&K Group, Inc., is seeking an experienced and motivated Heavy Equipment Operator.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment to achieve daily production goals
- Adhere to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
- Control operation, function, and movement of machine using levers and pedals
- Clean equipment as scheduled
- Safely and securely park and store equipment
- Grease equipment properly and check fluids daily (oils, coolant, fuel level)
- Perform daily checks on equipment to ensure proper operating condition
- Notify shop foreman of any maintenance or repair requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school OR six months of related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Able to pass practical skills test for heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, and loaders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Problem-solving ability
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
Qualifications
- Able to pass practical skills test for heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, and loaders

Skills
- Two years of related experience and/or training
- Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
- OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
