Loess Hills Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our growing team in Malvern, IA.

Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs engine and powertrain components, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
Repairs equipment efficiently, including heavy equipment such as compactors, dozers, excavators, motor graders, water trucks, and articulated dump trucks.
Ability to operate compactors, bulldozers, wheel loaders, and motor graders (experience preferred but not required).
Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
Maintains a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

Extensive physical activity requiring strenuous work, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.
Work may be indoors in a shop or outdoors on the landfill face, sometimes in awkward or tight positions with greasy or dirty tools.
Exposure to outside weather, including wet/humid conditions, fumes, vibration, and moderate noise levels.

Valid driver’s license.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate service and technical information.
Preferred: 3 years of directly related experience in diesel and yellow iron heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
Must own personal tools.

$25–$30 per hour

7:00 AM–4:00 PM
