Loess Hills Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our growing team in Malvern, IA.

Responsibilities
- Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
- Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs engine and powertrain components, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Repairs equipment efficiently, including heavy equipment such as compactors, dozers, excavators, motor graders, water trucks, and articulated dump trucks.
- Ability to operate compactors, bulldozers, wheel loaders, and motor graders (experience preferred but not required).
- Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
- Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
- Maintains a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Working Conditions
- Extensive physical activity requiring strenuous work, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.
- Work may be indoors in a shop or outdoors on the landfill face, sometimes in awkward or tight positions with greasy or dirty tools.
- Exposure to outside weather, including wet/humid conditions, fumes, vibration, and moderate noise levels.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate service and technical information.
- Preferred: 3 years of directly related experience in diesel and yellow iron heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Must own personal tools.

Pay
