Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Position Summary
McCarthy Building Companies is looking for Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our Solutions Center team. In this role, you will support our yard and job sites regular heavy equipment maintenance. Position may require travel.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair including but not limited to electrical, hydraulic, tracks, diesel engines and transmissions for a variety of construction equipment and crane types
- Maintain a safe shop work environment
- Effectively communicate equipment issues with supervisor to ensure customer satisfaction
- Operate/maneuver heavy equipment on site in a safe and effective manner
- Check daily to ensure equipment functions properly and in a safe manner
- Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored when not in use
- Accurately order needed parts from vendors when necessary
- Operate and test equipment after repair
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience with a large construction company as a heavy equipment mechanic
- Thorough knowledge of equipment and safety processes used in commercial, civil and/or marine construction
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance, storage, schematics, and diagrams
- Necessary tools to perform the work assigned
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to weld and fabricate preferred
- Ability to complete daily activities according to work schedule
- Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Ability to perform heavy lifting/pushing/pulling of material weighing 50 pounds
- Ability to squat, crawl, and work in confined spaces
- Exhibit strong work ethic, teamwork, customer service, verbal, and written skills
