Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Position Overview

In this role, you’ll help to inspect, repair, service and maintain gasoline, diesel powered and electronically operated mobile equipment. You’ll learn the inner workings of each piece of equipment, become an expert at what you do and expand your skillset by working on new equipment each day. You'll play an integral part as we stand together to reinvent the way our world is built.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains equipment.
- Travel to different sites throughout the Willamette Valley
- Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
- Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools.
- Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
- Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions.
- Tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency (must be able to operate all equipment).
- May direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
- Should have skills in fabrication
- Perform record keeping of time and parts used on the appropriate forms.
- Perform general cleaning of work areas and maintenance areas.
- Perform cleaning and lubricating of parts.
- Thorough mechanical knowledge of heavy-duty construction related equipment. Wheel loader, dozers & excavators
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear.
- Weld broken parts and structural members and other items as necessary using appropriate welding processes.
- Repairs electrical equipment.
- Experience with diesel trucks and equipment.
Qualifications
- Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance and punctuality.
- Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.
- Demonstrates the ability to work overtime and weekends/holidays as needed.
- Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
- Demonstrates ability to work and communicate well with Supervisors, Truck Drivers, Heavy Equipment Operators and other employees.
- Demonstrates the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Demonstrates the willingness to learn and work a variety of job tasks.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
- Must have good depth perception and coordination to operate machine controls.
- General mechanical knowledge on heavy duty construction related equipment.
- Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.
