Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on various heavy construction equipment, including cranes, excavators, bulldozers, and more.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and make repairs as needed.
  • Conduct pre-operation inspections to ensure equipment is safe to operate.
  • Collaborate with project managers, operators, and other team members to ensure equipment readiness for construction activities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair engine, transmission, and hydraulic systems, among other critical components.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations, prioritizing safe working practices at all times.
  • Work in a variety of environments, including remote locations and job sites with challenging conditions.
  • Assist in managing inventory and ordering necessary parts for equipment repairs.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably with a background in construction, subsurface, or pole-setting projects.
  • Knowledge of the maintenance and repair of a variety of heavy construction machinery (e.g., cranes, excavators, bulldozers).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with welding, fabrication, and heavy equipment diagnostics tools is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry heavy objects, work in outdoor environments, and perform repairs in various weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • A valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training programs to stay current on new equipment technologies and safety protocols.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant certifications such as OSHA 10 or 30-hour training may be required. Valid driver’s license is required.
