Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspects and runs diagnostics on diesel engines and other machinery.
- Handles basic and routine repairs on heavy machinery such as pavers, millers, rollers, bobcats and other company vehicles and assists with major and complex repairs.
- Responds to road calls and performs road side and emergency repairs.
- Maintain and uphold all Safety procedures and protocols set forth by the company.
Required Qualifications
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
- Formal technical training industry certifications highly preferred.
- Skilled with Transmissions, exhaust systems, fuel systems, drivelines, differentials, hubs other mechanical components.
- Intermediate welding skills.
- Experienced working on heavy equipment.
- Advanced skills with Hydraulic systems and hydraulic schematics.
- Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks at a worksite or moving from one worksite to another.
- Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, such as stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Adjusting, moving and lifting objects in all directions.
- Talking and hearing to communicate with others.
- Seeing to perform job duties at close range, such as monitors or screens.
- Seeing to perform job duties at a distance, such as driving or operating equipment.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like.
- Operating machinery and/or power tools.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
