Heavy Equipment Hauler / Truck Driver

About the role

Responsible for safely loading/unloading, securing and delivering equipment marketed by CEC.

Responsibilities

• Safely load, unload, secure, and deliver equipment marketed by CEC.
• Ensure all units are tagged properly.
• Perform start‑up and review of equipment with customers on site.
• Complete required DOT and CEC forms.
• Conduct daily vehicle and trailer inspections; submit pre‑trip inspection report to the Rental Manager.
• Start machines and inspect them when unloading at job sites.
• Review proper start‑up, operation, maintenance, and safety procedures with each customer until they are comfortable.
• Obtain proper signatures on delivery documents.
• Maintain a clean truck and trailer, including normal servicing and repairs.
• Complete daily trip and mileage logs; keep federal safety and vehicle‑inspection regulations current.
• Work with the Rental Manager to ensure weight permits, tags, decals are current and loads are legal by weight, height, and width; arrange escorts or flags as needed.
• Report any machinery misuse, abuse, or unsafe use to the Rental Manager.
• Report unusual situations, customer complaints, dissatisfaction, and potential sales or rental leads.
• Perform miscellaneous duties to ensure trucks and trailers are operated legally and safely.
• Act as backup in the rental office when needed.
• When not assigned a trip, service/clean tractor and trailer, complete paperwork, assist with yard management and equipment maintenance.
• Assist other department personnel with rental information as required.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Rental Manager.
