Heavy Duty Mechanic CDL

About the role

This position involves performing general overhauls and repairs on various heavy equipment including loaders, crushers, mixers, trucks, forklifts, graders, skid loaders, compressors, and more. The role also includes diagnosing malfunctions, rebuilding equipment components, and maintaining equipment.

Responsibilities

• General overhauls and repairs on plant equipment such as loaders, crushers, mixers, trucks, forklifts, graders, skid loaders, compressors, and other machinery.
• Rebuilds equipment components and troubleshoots malfunctions.
• Drives pick-up trucks and road tests equipment as necessary in accordance with DOT regulations.
• Performs periodic PM checks and services equipment, plant compressor, pumps, and meters.
• Prepares necessary reports and requisitions following established procedures.
• Assists other tradesmen with repairs and oversees the work of trades helpers.
• Performs night shift work and other related duties as required.
• Ensures safety and prevents unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.

Requirements

• CDL Class B license, valid DOT medical card, and acceptable driving record.
• Mechanic certification from an accredited program (ASE diesel mechanic or equivalent).
• 4+ years of experience working on heavy equipment.
• Light welding experience.
• GED and/or equivalent combination of experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must become a member of the ILWU local 142.
