What You Will Be Doing

As a Heavy Duty Diesel Truck Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Inspecting, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and locating mechanical deficiencies on buses and on-highway diesel truck engines and components.
  • Repairing and/or replacing all components of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air conditioning systems, suspension systems, drive trains, electrical systems, steering, braking, material handling, and operator comfort systems.
  • Determining the extent of necessary repairs, including identifying major power-train overhaul needs, and preparing orders for required services.
  • Performing welding and brazing, fabricating, and modifying parts, equipment, miscellaneous structures, and attachments.
  • Completing all documentation (work orders, parts orders, inspections, warranty support, comments, and time sheets) in a legible, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Performing all work in accordance with established time, quality standards, and safety procedures.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in required safety program, and work in a safe manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.

Education/Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Required Qualifications/Skills

  • Knowledge of complex hydraulics, electrical, computer, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment safely to diagnose, adjust, and repair malfunctions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical information (schematics, technical manuals, technical drawings, technical procedures, and governmental regulations).
  • Ability to operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates.
  • Skill in basic computer applications including email and internet usage.
  • Ability to communicate through email (sending & receiving notes, attachments).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and communicate technical information.
  • Ability to write service reports that effectively communicate required information in an understandable (clear and concise) and usable method.
  • Ability to ask and properly respond to questions from customers and supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

  • Course work from accredited trade school, college, or university with emphasis in mechanics, hydraulics, and automotive electronics is desirable.
