Heavy Cleaner/Red Bag
Responsibilities
- Moves materials and furniture as required.
- Reports building malfunctions as instructed, e.g., power failures, leaks, building equipment, and any other damages.
- Operates motor-cleaning equipment to strip and wax floors, stairwells, and corridors.
- Sweeps and mops entrance lobby, stairwells, and elevator landings.
- Polishes marble or brass.
- Cleans walls, blackboards, mirrors, glass partitions, banisters, and mailboxes, window-sills, and baseboards in common areas.
- Dusts assigned areas.
- Cleans all bathrooms and kitchens.
- Removes spots and shampoos carpets.
- Sweeps and washes with hose exterior sidewalks, steps, and courtyards.
- Disposes of trash and recycling as directed by supervisor or management.
- Cleans compactor room.
- Checks all drains and removes debris, inspects, restocks, and cleans all areas of the building.
- Removes ice and snow and de-ices areas.
- Receives and stores 55-gallon drums, household supplies, and equipment.
- Responsible for the safekeeping, minor repairs, and preservation of all janitorial materials and equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or Equivalency certificate is required.
- Good communication skills are necessary.
- Must be physically fit to do excessive walking, stair climbing, lifting and carrying loads (minimum of 50 lbs.), and do overhead work.
- Must be able to work all shifts.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures is required.
Qualifications
The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
Benefits
This position is designated as having potential occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens under OSHA standards. Employees hired after March 26, 1999 will be subject to a four-year wage progression in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The University offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $24.46 - $30.57 per hour.
Schedule
The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
