Heavy Civil Project Manager
We are a well-established Heavy Civil General Contractor seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our growing team in the Portland, OR / Vancouver, WA market. This is an excellent opportunity to lead complex infrastructure projects while working with a respected contractor known for safety, quality, and successful project delivery.
About the role
The ideal candidate will have experience managing heavy civil construction projects such as earthwork, underground utilities, roadways, bridges, site development, concrete, excavation, and transportation infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Manage heavy civil construction projects from award through closeout.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and forecasts.
- Oversee subcontractor and supplier procurement.
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, inspectors, and field operations teams.
- Review contracts, change orders, RFIs, and project documentation.
- Monitor project cost performance and profitability.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Support Superintendents and field personnel throughout project execution.
- Participate in client meetings and maintain strong customer relationships.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Project Management experience in heavy civil construction.
- Experience managing projects valued from $1M to $100M+.
- Background in one or more of the following: Heavy highway, Site development, Underground utilities, Earthwork and grading, Bridges, Concrete structures, Transportation infrastructure.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, and project controls.
- Strong understanding of change order management and contract administration.
- Experience leading project teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction means and methods.
- Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contracts.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to visit project sites as needed.
