Heavy Civil Estimator

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to support estimating and bidding efforts for heavy civil construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background estimating roadway, sitework, utilities, earthwork, and other heavy civil projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates and competitive bids for heavy civil projects
• Review plans, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop material, labor, and equipment costs
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Develop detailed bid proposals and estimate breakdowns
• Work closely with project managers, operations, and field teams
• Identify project risks, scope gaps, and potential cost issues
• Assist with bid strategy and preconstruction activities
• Maintain organized estimating documentation and databases

Qualifications

• 3+ years of heavy civil construction estimating experience
• Experience with roadway, sitework, utilities, earthwork, concrete, paving, or DOT projects
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, labor, equipment, and material costs
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
• Experience with estimating software; HCSS HeavyBid is preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines
