About the Role
The Heatset Winder Operator is responsible for operating, threading, and supplying the Superba, Suessen, or Ornek Heat Setting Tunnel/Winder & Accumulator.
Responsibilities
- Patrol and monitor the running of the machine.
- Inspect, label, and stack wound packages as instructed.
- Follow all company, safety, and quality guidelines.
- Check the specification sheet at the beginning of each shift and verify that all specs are being followed exactly as described.
- Verify that each tube of yarn produced from the winder complies with the spec sheet.
- Load empty tubes into the winder magazine.
- Separate and straighten the yarn bundle into the thread path from the accumulator to the winder.
- Use air splice to join any broken ends; if the splicer doesn’t reach, tie a weaver knot with ¼ - ½” tail.
- Periodically check the thread path; if crossed, stop and correct the winder to ensure run-ability.
- Maintain tunnel efficiency of 90% or better.
- Stack the finished packages as configured on the spec sheet.
- Keep the work area free of yarn waste at all times.
- Clean your assignment and work area each shift.
- Report all accidents immediately.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Performance Expectations
- Follow printed and spoken instructions and specifications effectively.
- Able to stand for long periods.
- Hand dexterity sufficient to handle packages, operate splicer, or tie weavers’ knots as specified.
- Able to lift and place numerous 12-20 lb. packages per shift.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic math skills.
- Overtime is required on occasion.
