Heating Plant Operator
About the role
The State Hospital is seeking a Heating Plant Operator in Jamestown, ND. The position involves the safe and energy-efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of central heating plant equipment to ensure a reliable steam supply and adequate heating and cooling for all campus buildings.
Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and adjust boilers, furnaces, engines, pumps, heat exchangers, generators, motors, chillers, cooling towers, and associated equipment.
- Make periodic inspections of equipment and perform minor repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance.
- Read meters, gauges, and other recording devices and log data.
- Keep records and write reports.
- Inspect low pressure boilers according to a unified inspection procedure.
- Operate a motor vehicle as directed.
- Perform daily boiler and condensate water chemical testing.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in one or more of the trades areas or related work.
- Vocational or technical education in a field comparable to the position's primary responsibility may substitute for up to one year of the work experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
