Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of heat treat functions on parts made of various alloys to promote change of physical properties on various metals for toughness and strength.
  • Checks salt bath levels and makes additions when needed, verifies belt speeds and conditions.
  • Sets and monitors furnace temperatures, atmospheres and dew point.
  • Performs weekly SAT test per AMS 2750.
  • Operates Shop Floor System and records MO information.
  • Weighs parts to produce part counts.
  • Makes in-process inspections, hardness and surface contamination tests on products, per specifications.
  • Attends all required job related training (internal and external).
  • Follows all 5S department procedures which include but are not limited to; keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organize part pans, and performs other housekeeping duties.
  • May perform applicable quality control in-process inspections, hardness and surface contamination tests on products, per specifications.
  • May perform some “General Operator I” duties as necessary.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to make all inspections on machined parts using precision measuring equipment.

Skills

  • Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of mainframe computers and an understanding of Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
  • Language Skills: Read and interpret blueprints or other job specifications.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

  • Participate, upon request, in analyses (of risks, incidents) and HSE working groups related to his/her professional scope
  • Be familiar with the main health and safety risks and the main environmental impacts relating to the scope of his/her work
  • Be familiar with the site's HSE policy and objectives
