Heat Treater

About the role

Based in South Windsor, CT, the Heat Treater C‑A performs essential heat‑treatment functions under the Production Manager to meet customer specifications and assists other employees as needed. The position is safety‑sensitive role offers a $1,500 sign‑on retention bonus, requires passing a pre‑employment drug screen and basic physical, and expects full‑time work (40+ hours per week) with hours Monday‑Thursday, 4:00 pm‑2:30 am. Depending on experience, the role may be filled at Level C (0‑24 months), Level B (2‑3 years), or Level A (3‑5 years) of heat‑treating experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares work for processing; loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
• Brings any unusual problems or irregularities to the attention of the supervisor.
• Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
• Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
• Ensures the care and treatment of customer inventory to prevent loss or damage.
• Reports for work on time, follows directions, interacts effectively with co‑workers, understands and follows rules and procedures, and accepts constructive criticism.
• Assists with operations, control, and monitoring of heat‑treating and related equipment per shop traveler or customer paperwork (Level C).
• Operates, controls, and monitors heat‑treating equipment per shop traveler or customer paperwork (Level B).
• Independently operates, controls, and monitors heat‑treating equipment, leads initiatives, mentors junior team members, and makes strategic contributions (Level A).

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of metallurgy, temperatures, and related concepts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (ITAR compliance).
• Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and basic physical.
• Ability to work full‑time (40+ hours/week) and overtime, including any shift and weekends.
• Capable of lifting up to 35 lbs; bending, pulling, stooping, and reaching.
• Able to work in a standing position for extended periods in an industrial environment.
• Cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, and files.
• Able to hear in person and via telephone.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $22 – $28 per hour, based on skills and experience. Eligible for overtime pay per state and federal law, shift differential, and the $1,500 sign‑on retention bonus.

Schedule

Monday‑Thursday, 4:00 pm – 2:30 am; full‑time (40+ hours per week) with potential overtime and weekend shifts.
