Ellwood Crankshaft Group is a leading manufacturer of crankshafts and eccentrics for mechanical stamping presses, reciprocating compressors, pumps, engines, and other applications. ECG serves the locomotive, marine, shipping, mechanical press, oil and gas, and compression markets from four facilities in Pennsylvania.

About the role

This hourly, non-exempt Heat Treat Operator I position at the Sharon, PA facility reports to the Plant Manager. Compensation is based on experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver’s License
• Knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge and experience with heat treat equipment preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
• Results-oriented with a strong desire to succeed
• Strong verbal, written, and math skills
• Ability to train others in best practices
• Understanding of manufacturing processes
• Ability to layout and stage parts as required
• Commitment to continuous improvement
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred: Experience with refractory materials and furnace rebuilding.

Responsibilities

• Assist with furnace and product setups according to product requirements and heat treat schedule
• Perform labor support functions for heat treat activities (e.g., fork transfer setup, furnace survey setup, material handling)
• Operate overhead cranes and radio-controlled cranes as assigned
• Operate automated guide vehicles (AGVs) in manual mode for material handling and fitment
• Maintain required reports and recordkeeping
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines
• Maintain housekeeping in all work areas
• Follow plant safety rules and lead safety improvements
• Uphold quality standards in all assigned work
• Assist in developing training procedures for new operators
• Perform other routine labor tasks as needed for production flow or plant needs

Physical Requirements

• Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds and frequent lifting up to 30 pounds
• Frequent sitting, standing, reaching, and climbing
• Occasional walking, crawling, and squatting
