About the role

Heat treat operators perform intermediate heat treat tasks with minimal assistance, including verifying DPS/AMS documents, setting up equipment (furnace burn out, leak test, OPM, loading required recipes), and performing basic equipment maintenance such as inspecting thermocouples, verifying certifications, and producing required graphs for quality. This role demonstrates intermediate knowledge of materials and heat treat processes.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines, including PPE and equipment interaction.
  • Adhere to quality processes, including in-process inspection to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
  • Correctly access and interpret documentation (e.g., H-Specs).
  • Lift up to 45 lbs repetitively.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Perform intermediate racking and loading of product (furnaces).
  • Meet area/product-specific production standards.
  • Complete process and operation documentation (e.g., traceability).
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks (e.g., filters).
  • Review furnace charts (audit other operators’ charts).
  • Operate hoists.
  • Adjust furnace controller patterns (per H-Spec).
  • Adjust furnace atmosphere controls.
  • Work in a team environment, follow instructions, and assist others as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Skills

  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to perform basic shop math, including fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to use basic inspection tools such as micrometers.
  • Intermediate knowledge of heat treat processes.
  • Ability to navigate an intranet to locate process documents (basic computer skills).
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, basic prints, and dimensions.
