Heat Treat Apprentice - 2nd Shift
About the role
The Heat Treat Apprentice will learn essential skills in preparing loads, operating Heat Treat furnaces, monitoring processes, and documenting results.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and load forgings into Heat Treat furnaces.
- Unload forgings from Heat Treat furnaces.
- Maintain accurate records of the heat treat process.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure quality and production requirements are met.
- Incorporate in total quality management projects to drive continuous improvement.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities.
- Avoid non-compliance with APP’s policies and procedures, including ethical standards and safety guidelines.
- Support plant quality system and productivity goals.
- Perform visual inspections for cleanliness and condition of forgings and racks.
- Rack forgings according to racking plans and industry best practices.
- Set and monitor furnace temperatures.
- Unload forgings safely and efficiently.
- Conduct hardness and conductivity inspections under supervision.
- Document the heat treat processes thoroughly.
- Fill out various checklists as directed.
- Assist with other tasks as assigned by the department manager.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- On-the-job training will be provided.
- Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.
- Must be a US Citizen or US Person (U.S. Person = a natural person who is a lawful permanent resident as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, decimals).
- Basic English proficiency (reading, writing, verbal communication).
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Forklift operation ability is preferred.
- Microsoft Office skills are beneficial.

Pay
$20.00 - $23.97 per hour. The actual compensation may vary based on relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
