Heat Treat Apprentice - 2nd Shift

About the role

The Heat Treat Apprentice will learn essential skills in preparing loads, operating Heat Treat furnaces, monitoring processes, and documenting results.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and load forgings into Heat Treat furnaces.
• Unload forgings from Heat Treat furnaces.
• Maintain accurate records of the heat treat process.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure quality and production requirements are met.
• Incorporate in total quality management projects to drive continuous improvement.
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities.
• Avoid non-compliance with APP’s policies and procedures, including ethical standards and safety guidelines.
• Support plant quality system and productivity goals.
• Perform visual inspections for cleanliness and condition of forgings and racks.
• Rack forgings according to racking plans and industry best practices.
• Set and monitor furnace temperatures.
• Unload forgings safely and efficiently.
• Conduct hardness and conductivity inspections under supervision.
• Document the heat treat processes thoroughly.
• Fill out various checklists as directed.
• Assist with other tasks as assigned by the department manager.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• On-the-job training will be provided.
• Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.
• Must be a US Citizen or US Person (U.S. Person = a natural person who is a lawful permanent resident as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, decimals).
• Basic English proficiency (reading, writing, verbal communication).
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Forklift operation ability is preferred.
• Microsoft Office skills are beneficial.

Pay

$20.00 - $23.97 per hour. The actual compensation may vary based on relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
