Job Summary
We are seeking a Heat Treat Applications Engineer to join our team in Milwaukee, WI. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing accurate technical quotations for custom induction heating systems and applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer specifications, RFQs, drawings, and technical requirements.
- Develop technical and commercial quotations for custom induction heating systems and automation solutions.
- Define system scope, equipment configuration, and technical assumptions for proposed solutions.
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to develop accurate pricing and delivery estimates.
- Evaluate application requirements for induction heat treating, brazing, annealing, forging, shrink fitting, and other thermal processing applications.
- Recommend appropriate induction power supplies, coil designs, cooling systems, automation equipment, and material handling solutions.
- Prepare bills of material, cost estimates, and proposal documentation.
- Identify technical risks, scope gaps, and special customer requirements during the quotation process.
- Support sales personnel with technical presentations, customer discussions, and proposal reviews.
- Maintain quotation records, pricing databases, and reference documentation.
- Aid in continuous improvement initiatives to improve quote accuracy, response time, and profitability.
- Participate in customer meetings, project kickoffs, and technical reviews as required.
- Provide technical support for order handoff to engineering and project execution teams.
- Monitor market trends, competitor offerings, and industry developments related to induction heating and industrial automation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field.
- Minimum 35 years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, applications engineering, manufacturing engineering, or technical sales.
- Experience working with custom-engineered industrial equipment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial production environments.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with induction heating equipment and thermal processing systems.
- Knowledge of heat treating, brazing, annealing, forging, hardening, tempering, and metallurgical processes.
- Experience with PLC programming and industrial control systems.
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar automation platforms.
- Experience with robotics, motion control, and automated material handling systems.
- Understanding of industrial power systems.
