HEAT Intake Advocate

About the role

Utah Community Action is seeking a HEAT Intake Assistant to serve as the primary point of contact for our utility assistance programs. This role involves supporting individuals and families through challenging moments with compassion, professionalism, and purpose.

Responsibilities

• Answering incoming calls, voicemails, and emails related to utility assistance
• Welcome and assist walk-in clients with care and respect
• Educate clients about Utah Community Action utility assistance programs and eligibility
• Conduct initial screenings and process applications
• Gather documentation and schedule appointments
• Refer clients to additional community resources to meet their needs
• Participate in outreach efforts (occasionally outside regular business hours)

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or GED
• Micorsoft Office proficiency

Bonus Points

• An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
• Bilingual skills
• Office assistant or administrative experience

Pay & Perks

• Travel & Flexibility: Regular travel along the Wasatch Front required, with the need for reliable transportation.
• Work Environment & Physical Demands: Requires mobility and physical dexterity, ability to read, focus, organize, recall, and retain information, must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods, regular use of office equipment, in-office position, exposure to normal office noise and foot traffic.
