The Health Extension: Advocacy, Research, and Teaching Initiative (HEART) is a cutting-edge program through Utah State University Extension, aligned with National Cooperative Extension's essential focus area in health and wellness. HEART serves as a model for how Extension can partner with communities to address health and wellness needs, bringing unique academic resources into the community to address the opioid epidemic and other pressing public health issues. This position is eligible for hybrid work within the state of Utah.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Utah State University faculty to plan, organize, promote, coordinate, and supervise community outreach and engagement activities, including the Fall 2026 Take Back Day and other local events such as Family Field Days, Recovery Day, and Suicide Prevention & Awareness Walks.
  • Participate in team meetings, document meeting notes, assist with event planning, and support related project activities.
  • Conduct research activities under the guidance of a faculty mentor, including data collection, transcription, organization, and analysis.
  • Develop and publish educational and informational materials, including fact sheets, resource guides, presentations, social media content, reports, policy briefs, and journal article contributions based on identified community needs.
  • Assist in the preparation and dissemination of research findings and program outcomes to stakeholders and community partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of program, research, and outreach objectives.
