Major Duties

  • Congduct administrative hearings for unemployment insurance claims within the Appeals Tribunal.
  • Manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining accuracy and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Evaluate testimony, evidence, and case records to resolve disputes in a fair and impartial manner.
  • Apply relevant laws, rules, and precedents to reach well-reasoned legal determinations.
  • Draft clear, concise, and legally sound written decisions within established timelines.
  • Preside over hearings for additional agency programs as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training to maintain knowledge of legal standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Exercise independent judgment while ensuring compliance with due process and agency policies.
  • Maintain professionalism and composure when interacting with diverse parties in potentially high-pressure situations.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Reliable internet connection and ability to work in a fully remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Texas Payday Law, Texas Unemployment Compensation Act, and related regulations.
  • Experience conducting administrative hearings and drafting legal decisions or documents.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess facts and apply legal principles effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and strong typing skills (50+ WPM) with high attention to detail.

Opportunity Details

  • Pay Rate: $57.00/hour.
  • Assignment Length: 1 year, with potential for extension.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (40 hours/week).
  • Location: Fully remote (Texas residents only).
