Healthcare Supply Chain Specialist (IT/Clinical Info Specialist)

About the Role

The Principal Healthcare Supply Chain Specialist (Information Technology/Clinical Information Systems) oversees multi-layered projects related to healthcare information technology systems and software such as pharmacy automation solutions, clinical decision support systems, laboratory information systems, perioperative environments, enterprise imaging software solutions, artificial intelligence technologies, and other software and systems used within hospital environments.

The role works closely with hospital clients, clinicians, clinical engineers, IT teams, manufacturers, and Starita’s analysts to evaluate and compare healthcare technology vendors and solutions. The Specialist leads hospital equipment and IT sourcing projects, including coordinating calls with Starita's analysts, clinical engineers, and clients; developing RFP questionnaires; reviewing vendor RFP responses; and making purchase decision recommendations based on technical specifications, quoted pricing, and proposed service and support options.

The Specialist reviews, edits, and approves reports to ensure technical accuracy and proper clinical focus before they are sent to clients. They also work with Team Managers to develop new reports and service offerings, support the Sales team by performing demos and providing sales strategies, and may represent the company at trade shows and conferences.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes information technology price quotations for equipment and software from a financial perspective and provides hospitals with information and resources to facilitate price negotiations with vendors.
• Analyzes utilization trends across departments and/or facilities to identify opportunities for utilization optimization that may result in cost savings and/or reduced waste.
• Analyzes market alternatives and market share data to identify potential opportunities for standardization/market shifts to mitigate disruptions with technologies or supplies.
• Identifies purchase, lease/rental, and service contract pricing benchmarks using Starita's internal database applications.
• Assists Starita member facilities with IT capital equipment planning and budgeting.
• Routinely surveys client requests and feedback to identify trends, deficits, etc., and proactively encourages the use of services when opportunities present themselves.
• Collects specific client feedback whenever possible.
• Reviews, edits, and approves comparative and market intelligence reports before they are sent to clients, ensuring technical accuracy and proper clinical focus.
• Oversees and coordinates work on large projects related to information systems, software, and services.
• Leads sourcing projects, coordinates calls with Starita analysts, clinical engineers, and clients, develops RFP questionnaires, reviews vendor RFP responses, and makes vendor/product purchase recommendations.
• Works with Team Managers to develop new reports and service offerings to meet evolving client needs.
• Educates new analysts and team members on capital and supply databases, the Starita website, and department protocols.
• Assists during the interview, selection, and training process for new personnel.
• Serves as a liaison for development efforts related to GSCS, including development initiatives, testing, and issue resolution.
• Supports sales teams by performing demos, providing sales pitch strategies, and helping close sales.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors, hosts technology demonstrations and webinars on updated and new products.
• Attends and presents at trade shows and conferences to promote Starita as a thought leader in healthcare.
• Provides subject matter expertise within capital, supply, and services to guide Starita’s teams.
• Demonstrates exceptional customer service, written communication, and presentation skills.
• Establishes and maintains excellent relationships with clients by routinely keeping them informed of project status and developments.

Requirements

• Five (5) or more years' experience in healthcare IT systems assessment, selection, procurement, and installation, and/or a related role as an experienced clinical advisor for IT systems development and user training (e.g., acute care nursing/nursing education or healthcare consulting background). Experience beyond general hospital supply chain is required.
• PMP (Project Management Professional) or certifications in clinical informatics or business applications (preferred but not required).
• High-level familiarity with clinical and healthcare IT systems and software applications, clinical workflows, and terminology in the healthcare industry.
• Familiarity with IT infrastructure, software development, and system integration.
• Ability to translate clinical requirements into technical specifications.
• Ability to conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in healthcare IT procurement.
• Ability to lead, organize, and manage multiple concurrent tasks related to clinical information system projects.
• Knowledge of database management, data integration, and data analytics tools.
• Ability to identify, evaluate, and select vendors for healthcare IT solutions and conduct thorough assessments of vendor capabilities and offerings.
• Ability to meet virtually with healthcare IT professionals and project managers, lead meetings, and make recommendations related to the selection of healthcare IT systems and software solutions.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to quickly grasp the operating principles of previously unfamiliar technology.
• Ability to independently, reliably, and effectively manage changing priorities for multiple simultaneous tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, information systems, healthcare information management (HIM), health informatics, or a related field.
• Clinical background (e.g., nursing, clinical engineering, medical technology) preferred to understand clinical workflows and challenges.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Pay

The compensation range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Compensation offered will depend on factors including experience, skills, geographic location, and internal equity.

Schedule

• Up to 10% travel, based on business needs. While roles are 100% remote, employees may gather a few times a year for up to one week. Employees are given ample notice, and attendance is expected.
