Responsibilities
- Safeguarding BHG properties and grounds, as well as patients, visitors, and staff.
- Upholding Bronson’s policies and procedures through the Standards for Excellence.
- Providing exceptional customer service at all times.
- Maintaining professional conduct to promote good hospital and community relations.
- Greeting patients and visitors and assisting them to their destinations.
- Completing reports and documentation.
- Maintaining annual department continuing education trainings and certificates, along with system CBLs.
- Successfully completing required violent patient management and de-escalation training.
- Utilizing and operating a computer, tablet/mobile device, and security surveillance system.
- Lifting and moving materials, equipment, and objects as needed.
- Dealing with stress and emergencies in a calm manner.
- Enforcing No-Trespass orders.
- Recognizing and addressing problems or potential problems.
- Interacting and problem-solving with other units and staff members.
- Assisting with direct patient care situations.
- Responding to calls for aid from various hospital areas.
- Assisting with calming or restraining disturbed patients.
- Escorting individuals from hospital premises when necessary.
- Communicating with staff, patients/visitors, and local law enforcement during codes and/or situations requiring a high state of readiness.
- Responding to emergency security situations.
- Preparing and investigating accident, theft, lost property, safety, and security violation reports.
- Assisting with parking control.
- Escorting employees and visitors to their cars upon request.
- Providing general assistance to people with car trouble.
- Patrolling hospital buildings and grounds according to established schedules.
- Performing site-specific duties as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Security and/or healthcare security experience preferred.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license required.
- Must be insured through Bronson’s insurance carrier.
- Ability to operate a computer, tablet/mobile device, and security surveillance system.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with heavier tasks.
- Ability to cope with high levels of stress and deal with anger, fear, and hostility.
- Ability to recognize and address problems or potential problems.
- Ability to enforce No-Trespass orders.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations and perform patient management techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain professional conduct.
