Healthcare Regulatory Attorney (Remote)
About the role
The engagement is expected to last multiple months, and the company is looking to bring someone on immediately. Candidates must be licensed to practice in any jurisdiction and may be located anywhere in the United States. The company operates in the Medicare Advantage and value-based care space.
Responsibilities
- Analyze Medicare Advantage and value-based care regulatory frameworks relevant to the company's pending arbitration, including CMS program requirements, payment methodologies, risk adjustment, and payer-provider contractual arrangements.
- Serve as the healthcare regulatory subject-matter expert supporting the company's preparation for the arbitration, working alongside company leadership and outside litigation counsel.
- Review key documents, agreements, and factual positions through a regulatory lens and advise on how applicable rules and CMS guidance bear on the issues in dispute.
- Help develop and pressure-test regulatory arguments, identify strengths and vulnerabilities in the company's positions, and translate complex regulatory concepts for the broader arbitration team.
- Provide practical, responsive guidance on related Medicare Advantage and value-based care regulatory questions as they arise during the engagement.
Requirements
Candidate must be licensed to practice in any jurisdiction and may be located anywhere in the United States. Strong working knowledge of CMS regulations and guidance, including payment structures, risk-based contracting, and the regulatory relationships between providers and payors. Prior experience supporting disputes, arbitrations, or government inquiries from a regulatory perspective is a plus; but this is a regulatory role, not a litigation role.
Qualifications
- Attorney with 5–7+ years of healthcare regulatory experience; deep familiarity with Medicare Advantage and value-based care arrangements is essential.
- Able to work independently, ramp up quickly, and deliver clear, practical analysis on a part-time schedule.
- Licensed to practice law and in good standing (any U.S. jurisdiction).
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
Skills
Strong research and analytical skills, excellent communication and collaboration abilities, and the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Benefits

Pay
The annualized pay for this position ranges from $200,000 - $300,000 when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).
