Responsibilities
- Transports participants to and from: the center, offsite activities, specialist appointments and transports meals as needed
- Partners closely with the transportation coordinator and IDT to observe and report changes in participants physical and psychosocial status
- Ensures participant safety whenever they are entering, within, and exiting the vehicle
- Maintains vehicle and equipment quality by providing consistent maintenance
- Communicates clearly and professionally with internal and external customers
- Cleans after events, supports with activities
- Conducts pre-inspection of assigned vehicles before they are used, reporting any defects to the transportation coordinator
- Assists center staff during any down time, escorting participants between activities and rooms
Qualifications & Experience
- Passion for Service: A strong mission orientation to serve high-risk seniors and frail older adults with care and respect
- Driving Experience: At least one (1) year of experience driving frail and elderly participants safely and reliably
- Physical Capability: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as part of your daily responsibilities
- Clean Driving Record: A valid California Class "C" Driver’s License with: At least five (5) years of driving experience. No more than one (1) moving violation or one (1) at-fault accident in the past three (3) years
- Educational Requirement: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; one (1) year of relevant experience may substitute for education
- Certifications: BLS, CPR and First Aid certification (to be obtained within 60 days of employment)
- Preferred Background: Experience in non-emergency or public transportation is a plus
Schedule
- Shift 1: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
- Shift 2: Tuesday - Saturday 8:30am - 5:00pm
