About the role

Milliman’s Indianapolis Health practice is seeking an entry-level Healthcare Business Analyst to support multiple life sciences client teams. In this position, you will manage client relationships, analyze complex datasets, and transform analysis into solutions and strategies for client accounts. You will collaborate with project managers, data analysts, editorial, creative, and quality groups to ensure high-quality work product and production processes. As part of the career development pathway, you will lead projects supporting client strategies and begin developing subject matter expertise in the U.S. healthcare industry.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize analytical, written, and verbal communication skills to answer data-driven questions on key topics in the healthcare industry.
  • Use complex databases to analyze client data and summarize findings through presentations, spreadsheets, data visualizations, and other reports.
  • Develop trusted client-facing relationships.
  • Create and track progress on detailed project plans and reliably communicate project status with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with a wide-ranging array of professionals to develop data-driven marketing materials.
  • Coordinate project reviews and quality assurance procedures.
  • Turn data insights into actionable solutions and strategies to solve complex problems.
  • Communicate outcomes to audiences who are less familiar with the data.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled or completed a Bachelor’s degree or higher, with a concentration in analytics or mathematics-related field (e.g., Business Analytics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics) and available for full-time employment during summer 2027.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, or other similar software, for the analysis and communication of quantitative results.
  • Exposure to performing data analysis using quantitative software (e.g., Python, R, SAS, SQL).
  • Past internship or work experience within a health consulting environment is preferred, including with Milliman.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of mathematical and statistical concepts, alongside a genuine interest in growing into a client-facing consulting role.
  • A naturally curious self-starter willing to learn when faced with unfamiliar subjects.
  • Proficient in managing time to ensure successful completion of assigned tasks by deadlines while involved with multiple projects.
  • Passionate about building trusted relationships with both external clients and internal colleagues.
  • Interested in developing a diverse skill set and taking on a variety of responsibilities across projects.
  • Strong presentation, organization, and time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of carrying out tasks independently as part of a cross-functional project team.
  • Basic knowledge of Gen AI tools, how to utilize AI to enhance productivity, and potential ethical considerations or concerns.

The Team

The life sciences consulting team is a group of 60+ individuals in the Indianapolis Health practice from varying backgrounds including actuaries, data analysts, pharmacists, and graphic designers. This group works primarily with life sciences companies and consults on their relationship with insurance companies and other stakeholders of the pharmaceutical value chain.

Location

This role operates in a dynamic, hybrid environment, with 2 to 3 days per week of on-site work required in the Indianapolis office.
