Medina Hospital’s Emergency Department serves all patients seeking emergency care — inclusive of all ages from neonate to geriatric, and regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ability to pay. The department is focused on providing treatment tailored to each individual patient’s specific needs, with an emphasis on expediting care and reducing wait times.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome, and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and directing them to available resources.
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
  • Handle various computer tasks, such as updating schedules and managing patient information.
  • Assist with unit clerical functions and troubleshoot equipment failures, such as call systems, portable phones, WOWs, and other unit devices.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and visitors, ensuring everyone has the best experience possible.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in a customer service-related role.
  • Experience with typing, computer training, or equivalent coursework.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College degree.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experienced RN with ED background.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires frequent data entry, standing, and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing, and vision.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Schedule

Midshift from 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m.

Pay

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $18.25

Maximum hourly: $24.95

The pay range displayed reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.) or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
