Health Unit Coordinator - 5 Med - 1.0 FTE - Day/PM Shift
About the role
The Medical Unit at WMH is a fast-paced, 53-bed unit serving a variety of patient populations. The staff here provide care for patients with diagnoses such as sepsis, acute/chronic respiratory conditions, trachs/vents, cellulitis, urinary tract infections, chronic conditions like COPD, heart failure, diabetes, patients on dialysis, and acute drug and alcohol withdrawal. Our staff are also well-prepared to care for medical patients with mental health conditions and those with dementia.
Responsibilities
- Performs charge entry on patient accounts to ensure charges are accurate and ethical.
- Uses HUC and Clerical Staff tools and resources provided by ProHealth Care to determine chargeable items.
- Reconciles the prior day's activity daily to ensure charge entry accuracy.
- Collects admission, discharge, and transfer (ADT) forms and updates the electronic medical record.
- Facilitates department operations by dispatching health care team resources.
- Answers, prioritizes, and directs phone calls including paging and logging health care team responses.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience preferred.
- A positive attitude.

Schedule
Mix of 4hr, 8hr and/or 12hr Day/PM shifts (variable start and end time between 7am-730pm)-Weekend rotation, 1-2 Holidays per calendar year. Availability to work above FTE to cover PTO.
