Health Unit Coordinator – 36 hours/week – 2 Night Shifts, 1 Day – *Up to $1000 Sign On Bonus*

About the role

The Health Unit Coordinator provides clerical and assigned secretarial duties in a nursing unit under the supervision of the professional nurse. This position has a weekly schedule of 2 night shifts and 1 day shift. Gathers and disperses complete personal and financial data in order to identify patients, reduce receivables, promotes patient and physician confidence while adhering to the financial policies of the hospital. Answers the telephone and relays messages. Organizes and maintains patient charts. Distributes charts for physician rounds. Prepares reports and records for nurses.

Responsibilities

• Performs all functions necessary to admit a patient, including obtaining authorizations for treatment and provisional diagnosis.
• Explains various legal and financial documents to patients.
• Collects patient payments and deposits on account at time of service.
• Verifies patient employment and/or insurance coverage.
