Health Unit Assistant - Float Pool; 0.5FTE; Day Shift

About the Role

The Health Unit Assistant (HUA) coordinates communication between nursing staff, physicians, other departments, professional staff, patients, and families relating to patient care. The HUC facilitates unit operations through knowing and communicating information, managing the desk area, facilitating the use of technology, monitoring and communicating bed status, and coordinating downtime procedures. The HUC utilizes Epic to facilitate patient care orders and serves as an Epic resource to physicians and the nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates communication between nursing staff, physicians, other departments, professional staff, patients, and families.
• Manages the desk area and facilitates the use of technology.
• Monitors and communicates bed status.
• Coordinates downtime procedures.
• Utilizes Epic to facilitate patient care orders and serves as an Epic resource.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Keyboard skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Medical terminology.

Schedule

Day Shift, every other weekend and holiday rotation. Must be available the first week of employment for HUC orientations that take place Monday - Friday 8AM - 4:30PM.
