Health Solutions Actuarial Consultant

About the role

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions supporting Health Analytics. This role will assist the lead actuary and consultants on assigned large accounts and manage/lead smaller actuarial engagements.

Locations: Chicago IL, Bannockburn IL, Columbus OH, Cleveland OH, St. Louis MS, Bloomington, MN, Phoenix, Denver, Portlant, Salt Lake City, San Francisco

Responsibilities

• Perform strategy and actuarial consulting including benefit strategy, goal setting, benchmarking, plan design, pricing strategy, budget setting, and bid/selection projects.
• Provide actuarial client leadership on targeted clients/prospects focusing on broader business objectives such as taking ownership of outcomes, delegating responsibilities effectively, coaching and mentoring team members, building relationships with clients, understanding clients' business, and analyzing scoping needs.
• Exhibit leadership in business judgment by anticipating client/project needs and developing alternative solutions.
• Explain actuarial methodology and results to clients, discuss potential alternatives, and participate in strategic discussions with clients.
• Effectively lead actuarial client teams, share client background and goals, measure results, share ideas, identify process improvements, and provide timely and regular coaching and feedback to team members.
• Lead actuarial work on client teams, provide technical coaching to other team members, and provide ultimate sign-off on results; likely play a role on the broader actuarial team for jumbo clients, managing large actuarial projects and deliverables, and coordinating with other actuarial team members.
• Contribute to the improvement of the practice through national model development/maintenance, leading initiatives, etc.

Qualifications

• ASA designation
• 4+ years of health care industry experience (carrier or consulting)
• Project management experience
• People management/mentoring experience
