Job Summary

The Health Services Administrator (HSA) is a member of the management team and reports to the Chief Healthcare Administrator (CHA). The HSA has administrative and operational oversight for all on-site and off-site health care services for the Heart of Florida Health Center under the supervision of the CHA. This includes complying with applicable state and local health services regulations, statutes, and maintaining all required accreditations.

About the Role

This position requires you to be on-site in Marion County at a correctional facility. This role involves overseeing various aspects of health care services, including personnel management, patient management, clinical quality management, and operations management. The HSA collaborates with directors from different departments to ensure alignment with the health center's strategic plan and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Guidance, direction, and support to health services staff
  • Ensuring staff are trained and supported in the delivery of care
  • Monitoring financial reports for accuracy
  • Aiding in monitoring employee time and attendance, staff utilization, and overtime
  • Completing and submitting required medical department reports
  • Evaluating and recommending methods of improving operational efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Maintaining a positive working relationship with correctional and health services personnel
  • Maintaining a positive working relationship with correctional staff, nursing staff, and contract providers and outside agencies
  • Maintaining a positive working relationship with the Medical Directors, Director of Nursing, and Director of Behavioral Health
  • Ensuring safe and sanitary patient care and staff working environment
  • Assisting with the preparation of materials and data for the HFHC Board of Director Meetings

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Business, Health, or related field strongly preferred; healthcare experience (administrative or other clinical role) can be a substitute for academic preparation
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in healthcare operations management required
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in healthcare corrections or operations management preferred
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements

  • Very active position requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day
  • Able to lift, carry, and handle equipment, supplies, and other work site materials according to position requirements
  • Strong mental acuity and ability to maintain a professional demeanor
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations within the corrections facility

Essential Functions

  • Overseeing Human Resource activities to include payroll review, staff recruitment and hiring, ensuring current staff licensures and certifications, maintenance of employee personnel files and other record keeping
  • Making sure all financial reports are accurate
  • Aiding in monitoring employee time and attendance, staff utilization, and staff overtime
  • Completing and submitting required medical department reports
  • Evaluating and recommending methods of improving operational efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Maintaining the retention, orientation, and performance of all health services personnel
  • Completing and submitting required performance appraisals
  • Ensuring the proper flow of relevant information to correctional and health services personnel
  • Closely monitoring all potential catastrophic illnesses and the use of available resources to maintain cost
  • Relaying information to correctional administration as necessary
  • Aiding in the development, implementation, monitoring, and annual review of all health care policies and procedures
  • Maintaining a positive working relationship with correctional staff, nursing staff, and contract providers and outside agencies
  • Maintaining a positive working relationship with the Medical Directors, Director of Nursing, and Director of Behavioral Health
  • Maintaining a positive working relationship with the CHA and HR Director
