Health Service Administrator - Registered Nurse Required

Facility: Western Regional Jail

Location: Barboursville, WV

Position Summary

• Manage the institution's overall health care delivery system and monitor all health service contract activities.
• Consult with the Regional Manager or designee on routine administrative issues and discuss complex clinical patient management issues with the Site Medical Director.
• Coordinate and monitor preparation of the institutional health services budget with the Regional Manager and Statewide Director of Operations.
• Supervise requisition of supplies and equipment, maintain property and equipment control records.
• Assist in developing and maintaining staff schedules in accordance with contract terms; make schedule changes and grant special time‑off requests.
• Approve monthly statistical reports and ensure timely submission of all required reports.
• Ensure confidential maintenance and safekeeping of all medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Monitor overall performance using national standards and contract deliverables.
• Perform administrative employee‑relations functions including supervision of performance, recruitment, job description development, performance management, corrective action, individual development plans, PTO scheduling and approval.
• Supervise scheduling of patients for outside appointments and review initial hospital specialty referrals with the Medical Director for appropriateness.
• Resolve audit findings by developing, implementing, and monitoring corrective action plans.
• Evaluate and respond to Corporate Risk Management inquiries, complaints, or grievances from patients, families, lawyers, or other advocates.
• Work with Clinical and Education staff to ensure CPR and First Aid training is completed per regulatory and contractual requirements.
• Collaborate with co‑workers on internal projects as directed.
• Participate in a company and state‑approved Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program.
• Perform other related duties as required or assigned after receiving necessary training.

Requirements

• Current West Virginia Registered Nursing License.
• Current CPR Certification.
• Associate’s degree in a healthcare‑related field (required); Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Three years of experience in a supervisory/leadership role or training in administrative aspects of health care preferred; two years of administrative and/or correctional nursing experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree.
• Correctional health care experience preferred.

Schedule

8:00 am – 4:30 pm with on‑call responsibilities.
