Health Sciences Lab Assistant - College Laboratory Asst 1

About the role

The Health Sciences Lab Assistant - College Laboratory Asst 1 supports the Health Sciences, Nursing, Nursing Assistant, and simulation laboratories. This position involves scheduling, setup and teardown of lab experiences, equipment cleaning and maintenance, inventory management, laundry, supply ordering, supervising student employees, assisting students, and monitoring student activity.

Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain inventory

• Absorb and assist students
• Maintain student activity

Requirements

• Minimum Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure as a registered nurse, medical assistant, nursing assistant, or health care simulation lab assistant
• 6 months of teaching/tutoring experience nursing, medical assistant, nursing assistant, or health care simulation lab assistant, at the high school level or above
• 2 years of work experience in nursing, medical assistant, nursing assistant, or health care simulation lab assistant, where no degree/certificate/diploma/licensure is required experience
• An equivalent combination of education and work experience

Preferred

• Associates or Bachelors Degree in a Health Science Discipline
• Knowledge of purchasing, inventorying, and lab and stockroom experience
• Knowledge of medical equipment and supplies and common nursing procedures
• Experience with simulation related technology
• Ability to organize time and prioritize tasks, to follow up, and follow-through on tasks and projects
• Experience working with Microsoft office applications (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
