About the role
Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester. These limits are for total number of credit hours taught in the Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply depending upon other positions occupied within VCCS.
Responsibilities
- Provide online asynchronous instruction or traditional delivery on either the Chester or Midlothian campus of the college.
- Courses offered in the discipline include Concepts of Personal & Community Health, Medical Terminology, and Principles of Nutrition.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or Physical Education, Health Science, or Health-related field is required, as well as a Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Science, or Health-related field (or equivalent).
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Prior teaching experience and the ability to use instructional technologies.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
