About the role
Triumvirate Environmental, one of North America’s largest environmental services firms, is seeking a Health & Safety Officer to support EWMI operations based in Northampton, PA.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Health & Safety and transportation compliance programs.
- Provide health and safety oversight for field projects including hazardous waste operations, confined space entry, hazardous materials emergencies, environmental remediation, transportation activities, and construction-related work.
- Develop, revise, and maintain company safety policies, procedures, and site-specific Health & Safety Plans (HASPs).
- Conduct and coordinate facility, operational, transportation, and project-site inspections, audits, and assessments.
- Drive proactive safety initiatives through risk assessments, behavioral observation programs, safety trend analysis, heat maps, and targeted risk reduction plans.
- Lead incident investigations and causal analyses using Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness planning and lead emergency response drills and training.
- Develop and conduct training programs including OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, RCRA, HAZWOPER, confined space, and site-specific safety training.
- Support industrial hygiene assessments and exposure evaluations.
- Utilize and maintain safety and compliance management systems such as Intelex, SharePoint, Lytx, and Dossier.
- Facilitate safety meetings and coordinate compliance activities.
- Attend and complete specialized technical and safety training.
- Travel to project and operational locations, including extended overnight travel as required.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 1-3 years of relevant EHS, construction safety, industrial safety, environmental remediation, or transportation safety experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, RCRA, CAA, CWA, and other applicable environmental and safety regulations.
- Experience developing and delivering safety training programs and conducting field safety oversight.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in office and field environments.
- Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and safety management systems.
- Must have a reliable form of transportation.
- Must be willing to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC).
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship.
Qualifications
- CSP, ASP, CHST, HAZWOPER, or other industry-related certifications.
- Active 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Prior experience in environmental remediation, hazardous waste operations, transportation, industrial services, or construction industries.
