Job Summary

The Muskego-Norway School District is seeking a Health Room Assistant to support the health and safety of students.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide compassionate care to ill and injured students, administer medication; gather student health assessment data such as health history and vital signs.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment in the school health office; maintain the safe and organized storage of student medication and medical equipment.
  • Appropriately and professionally document student visits to the school health room including complaints, observations, and interventions; scan and upload health-related documents.
  • Provide professional, courteous, and timely verbal and written communication with staff, students, families, and the public using various information and communication platforms.
  • Competently use a variety of medical equipment such as assessment equipment (thermometer, blood pressure monitor and pulse oximeter), diabetic equipment (insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors, glucometers), and a variety of personal protection equipment.
  • Provide basic emergency care as a member of the Medical Alert Team.
  • Obtain and maintain competency in information technology platforms such as Infinite Campus and Google Suite.
  • Aid the District Nurse with the development, administration, and communication of Individualized Health Plans.
  • Field Trips - preparation of student medical needs during field trips.
  • Immunizations - compliance, management, and reporting of student immunization status.
  • Screening - vision, hearing, and other student health screenings.
  • Coworker coverage - work at other school health rooms as needed to cover HRA absences.
  • Maintain compliance with mandatory training.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent;
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certified or willing to become certified;
  • Ability to get along with others and work as a team;
  • Ability to communicate professionally;
  • Use proper judgement;
  • Manage time effectively;
  • Demonstrate flexibility;
  • Competency with a variety of general office equipment;
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive student and family information;
  • Work independently with minimal direct supervision, under the guidance and direction of the District Nurse;
  • Healthcare experience such as Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant preferred;
  • Valid driver's license.
