About the Role
The Patient Relations Analyst (PRA) at Oak Street Health educates patients about Medicare programs, resources, and affordable insurance coverage options to increase patient access to care and retention. PRAs are insurance experts at each clinic, advocating for patients by helping them navigate insurance options and bills. They serve as a resource to the care team and outreach team for questions regarding Medicare and eligibility, playing a key role during Medicare's Open Enrollment. The PRA reports to the Associate Patient Relations Manager or Practice Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with navigating Medicare and insurance issues, including coverage, benefits, summaries, eligibility, and maximizing their plan
- Serve as an internal resource in the clinic on insurance questions for providers and staff
- Help patients resolve medical bills inside and outside of Oak Street Health (advocate for the patient)
- Gain the trust of Oak Street Health patients to properly advise them on healthcare coverage
- Manage the welcome visit and orientation process for new Oak Street Health patients
- Educate patients on how to apply for public benefits, such as Public Aid and Extra Help for prescription drugs
- Support the clinic management team on operational activities, including scheduling and billing
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Foster patient engagement through the design and execution of events, including center tours
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Computer Skills: Ability to quickly navigate and use multiple computer programs, including Gmail, MS Word or Google Docs, Excel, etc.
- US work authorization
Qualifications
- Strongly Preferred: Proficiency in non-English languages like Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by people in the communities we serve (where necessary) as required by center's demographics
- Preferred:
- Experience helping patients or customers understand their insurance coverage
- A passion for working with others to create unmatched patient experiences
- A problem-solving orientation and a flexible, positive attitude
- Sales background
- Experience with and a supportive attitude toward our patient population of older adults
- CRM experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Experience helping patients navigate the healthcare system, especially related to Medicare and Managed Care

- Full-time
- 40 hours per week
Pay
The typical pay range for this role is $21.10 - $40.90 per hour. This range represents the base hourly rate for all positions in this job grade. The actual base salary offer will depend on factors including experience, education, geography, and other relevant considerations. This position is also eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay.
