Health Information Management Technician

About the role

The HIM Technician is an experienced HIM clerk with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a clerk. This position offers opportunities for promotion to a clerk who demonstrates competence, high standards of quality and production, along with leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Processing daily patient discharge records
• Creating patient folders
• Filing, pulling requested records
• Following proper out-guide procedures
• Performing other clerical tasks as required

Requirements

• At least 2 years previous medical record clerical experience
• Accurate typing at a minimum of 25-35 words per minute
• Ability to file by terminal digit and alphabetical
• Good clerical knowledge and abilities, being extremely accurate and good at detailed work
• Ability to perform work activities with minimal direct supervision and be able to direct others
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology required
