Health Information Management Specialist

About the role
This is an entry-level career opportunity offering bonus incentives, paid certifications, tuition reimbursement, comprehensive benefits, and career advancement. The position pays between $18.65 – $19.90/hour based on experience and is onsite at the facility.
Responsibilities
- Completes analysis/reanalysis of all records accurately and timely.
- Manages accounts from EMR "Waiting for Documentation" and "Missing Document" work queues when documentation is received.
- Follows up with ancillary/nursing departments and providers for missing documentation or dictation preventing coding.
- Updates and maintains the unbilled spreadsheet with status reports on missing documentation, sending updates to management.
- Reviews medical record documentation in electronic medical records, creates charting deficiencies in the deficiency management system, and assigns them to the appropriate providers.
- Actively manages analysis-specific work queues (electronic and manual) to ensure timely analysis and chart completion.
- Adheres to company standards, policies, and workflow guidelines for assigning and re-assigning accounts to appropriate work queues.
- Identifies systematic problems and escalates them to the Manager for resolution.
- Reports issues and trends that do not comply with facility or corporate policies/standards.
- Documents workflows, including any alterations, modifications, or process enhancements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of CMS and Joint Commission regulations preferred.
- EMR experience preferred.
- Healthcare Revenue Cycle experience preferred, particularly in acute care facility HIM.
- Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation, including AI, to improve processes and patient/client experiences.
Qualifications
- CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire (company paid).

Pay
$18.65 – $19.90/hour based on experience.
