Health Information Management Analyst (Temporary)

Scheduled weekly hours: 40 (temporary position through end of 2026).

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of all Inpatient, Observation, ED (Emergency Department), Outpatient SDC (Surgical Day Center), Endoscopy, and Pain Management records to ensure quality and completeness of clinical documentation as required by CMS Conditions of Participation.
  • Prepare, scan, and index medical documents.
  • Process requests for Release of Information in accordance with HIPAA privacy laws.
  • Prepare medical documents for scanning, ensuring patient identifiers are on all pages and sides of a form.
  • Operate a high-speed scanner to digitally scan paper medical records into the electronic health record system.
  • Review scanned images for quality (legibility, completeness), select the correct patient and visit, and label the type and subject for the scanned document.
  • Review patient charts for deficiencies and ensure compliance with DNV, CMS, and regulatory standards.
  • Consistently treat patients, colleagues, and visitors with dignity and respect, being sensitive to the differing needs of all age groups, backgrounds, characteristics, and cultures.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent (Associates degree preferred).
  • RHIT certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 1+ years experience in office/clerical/computer work.
  • Excellent command of verbal and written English; strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly, accurately, and professionally present and explain complex information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with problem-solving skills using creative and critical thinking.
  • Ability to prioritize work, handle interruptions, and meet quality and quantity expectations.
  • Excellent telephone skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general office equipment (scanner, printer, telephone, fax, copy machine).
  • Ability to troubleshoot computer or system failures with IT to resolve downtime situations timely.
  • Work under minimal supervision while maintaining optimal quality and productivity.
  • Safeguard patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferably in the Health Information Management Department.
  • Experience with Cerner.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity to work on a keyboard.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Pay

Salary range: $21.06–$31.96 per hour. The pay range reflects the anticipated range for new hires. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education.
