Ready to take your fitness career beyond the fitness floor? Join HealthFitness in Durham, NC, as a Health Fitness Professional and play a key role in creating an engaging wellness experience for members.

Responsibilities

  • Leading group fitness classes and supporting members with their health goals
  • Helping coordinate marketing efforts, create newsletter content, organize tournaments and monthly wellness programs
  • Driving participation through fun and innovative events
  • Scheduling and delivering health and fitness programs and services
  • Providing individual and group exercise instruction
  • Coordinating and leading various health improvement programs and promotions
  • Conducting fitness testing and assessments and advising participants on results
  • Designing individualized programs to meet participant's interests, abilities and goals
  • Researching health & fitness educational topics and identifying appropriate participant educational materials
  • Celebrating health education seminars/presentations
  • Promoting program offerings and conducting outreach activities to increase participation and re-engage inactive participants
  • Creating and maintaining bulletin boards, newsletters and other marketing & communication materials
  • Coordinating internship program; overseeing the recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of student interns

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related field (Kinesiology, Exercise Science, etc.) or 2+ years’ fitness and wellness industry experience, along with fitness industry certification(s) from a HealthFitness approved provider.
  • OSHA compliant Adult/Child First Aid/CPR/AED from American Red Cross, American Heart Association, National Safety Council, or American Safety & Health Institute.
  • NCCA Accredited Personal Trainer certification from an Industry recognized and HealthFitness approved agency required.
  • Industry recognized Group Exercise Instructor certification from ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NCCPT or NETA required; if not current will be required within 90 days of hire.
  • Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in fitness assessment and exercise prescription.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
  • Competency in the delivery of HealthFitness and site-specific programs and services.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including at minimum Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Able to effectively organize and prioritize work demands including project coordination.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative and creativity.
