About the role
The Health Educator plays a crucial role in developing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of health promotion and education initiatives at the University of Pennsylvania. This position collaborates with key stakeholders across campus to ensure that wellness programming is responsive to current trends and evolving student needs.
Responsibilities
- Support all Wellness activities related to health promotion, outreach, prevention and intervention efforts, needs assessment, program development, program implementation, program evaluation, student orientation activities, and orienting student workers to education and outreach facilitation processes.
- Facilitate existing, student-focused Wellbeing programs for groups and individuals across the Penn community.
- Manage logistics for events and programs.
- Contribute to monthly metrics, program evaluations, and annual reports.
- Meet with stakeholders across campus to create opportunities to integrate health and wellness programming for specific student populations.
- Support health communication efforts (e.g., print, social media, website content).
- Orient student workers to education and outreach facilitation and processes.
- Collaborate with students, campus stakeholders, and the Associate Director, Health Education, students, and campus stakeholders to lead the design and implementation of initiatives that align with Wellness at Penn strategic priorities and address emerging trends in higher education.
- Support efforts to strengthen outreach and education capacity by streamlining systems and processes, including refining systems for outreach request management and metric tracking, and developing and maintaining standard operating procedures for outreach facilitation, Wellness Vending Machine operations, supply inventory, and related functions.
- Support department research activities, present at local and national conferences, and/or identify grant opportunities related to health and wellness initiatives and promoting health and wellbeing among college students.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or 2 to 3 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required.
- A Master’s degree in education, public health, or related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with highly diverse audiences, including students, faculty members, staff, and university administrators, preferably in higher education settings.
- Demonstrated strong people skills, organizational skills, and ability to work on a team.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills required.
- Experience in data analysis and/or program evaluation preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of theoretical models of behavior change, health promotion, and higher education preferred.
- Content or behavioral intervention expertise in at least one of the following topics areas (multiple preferred): artificial intelligence (AI) literacy, anxiety, belonging and social connection, climate and sustainability, creative arts, digital health literacy, digital wellbeing, health insurance, mindfulness meditation, nutrition, physical activity, public health, sexual health, sleep hygiene, stress/stress management.
Pay
The starting salary range for this position is $55,962.00 - $59,000.00 annually.
