Health Economist

Responsibilities

• Can perform statistical analysis and writes software code (in R and/or Stata) to manage, visualize, analyze, and model a variety of cost and economic data types
• Identifies and applies appropriate quantitative and statistical methods for the problem at hand
• Liaises between public health partners, financing partners, and analysis partners
• Prepares reports and presentations to effectively communicate methods and findings to stakeholders, including ministries of health and other partners
• Trains, supervises, and collaborates with partner individuals and institutions to support upskilling of local public health analytics talent

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in health economics; alternatively, Ph.D. in a related quantitative field and at 2+ years’ experience working in health economics, health financing, or econometrics
• Experience working in costing or cost-effectiveness analysis of health interventions
• Experience and skills in health financing assessments
• Experience in statistical analysis, including statistical tests and basic regressions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in econometrics and its application to the economics of health systems such as equity and efficiency analysis
• Experience in using modeling approaches in cost-effectiveness analysis, including decision trees and Markov models
• Experience working with ministries of health or public health departments
• Exposure to policymaking processes and data-to-action frameworks
• Experience in analysis of epidemiological, public health, clinical trial, or other health data
• Published articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals
