This position involves the surveillance and regulation of home health care providers to ensure compliance with State and Federal statutes and regulations. The Health Care Surveyor 2 will perform quality assurance reviews, conduct surveys or complaint investigations, and investigate alleged misconduct by professional health care providers.
Responsibilities
- Review quality assurance efforts of home care providers.
- Function independently or as part of a survey/investigative team.
- Investigate patient complaints and other allegations concerning home care providers, individuals, and health care professionals.
- Conduct interviews with patients, family members, and health care professionals.
- Write clear and concise reports using agency software.
- Utilize computer systems to evaluate medical data and identify patterns of questionable practice.
Requirements
- Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
- Two years of post-licensure, specialized professional administrative or professional clinical experience.
- A bachelor's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
- A master's degree in nursing may substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to actively participate on an interdisciplinary team and display professionalism.
- Excellent interview, observational, and writing skills, with the ability to translate collected information into legally defensible reports.
- Experience with the aged and aging population, particularly in direct patient care or clinical roles.
- Clinical knowledge and experience with Long Term Care and the aging population.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SharePoint.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, flexibility, and dedication.
- Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test certification.
Pay
Salary range: $84,173 – $94,121 (includes statutory hiring rate at Step 4 and job rate for PS&T Grade 20), plus an additional $35,000 Geographic Pay Differential and $4,000 Location Pay.

Schedule
This position may require travel throughout New York State, including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
